Leaded Lights
Encapsulation
Glass Ceiling Domes
Leaded lighting dating back to as early as the fifth teen hundreds has been a major part of Design Glass. Continuing to use traditional techniques and hand made skill, we are proud that we can offer such a bespoke service as leaded lights. We can either work with your own designs or have our artists create one to match your ideas.
This is something we are incredibly passionate about. It is our chance to take the work of our forebears, preserve and cherish it whilst at the same time give it another lifetime of beautiful service. We are able to take your existing leaded light or piece of stained glass and encapsulate it into a double glazed window.
We can design, manufacture and install any size stained glass ceiling dome. Using either natural or LED light, our domes will brighten up any space and create a focal point in any room. We have sent our glass ceiling domes all over the world. Examples of our handmade glass domes can be seen here.
Steel Windows
We love restoring windows, especially older and full of character ones. Either give us a call or drop in your old window and we will get to work on it as soon as possible. Our restoration work goes from replacing the glass or refurbishing the steel frame.
Glass Stock
We stock or can obtain every type of currently available art glass within a matter of days and we carry massive stocks of the most beautiful English made Antique glass. Any colour or pattern can be achieved so please feel free to drop by to choose your glass.

Glass Painting & Fired Work
Our workshop artists can assist with any design or idea. From creating your own stained glass leaded light or repairing an existing one. Our artists will be happy to help to bring your concept to life, either for a leaded light or a piece of stained glass.
Fused Glass
Fused glass is a modern twist on the ancient art of stained glass. We are adept at using this medium whether on its own, as a stand alone piece or in tandem with more traditional techniques such as leading and painting.
Schools & Churches
It has been our privilege over the years to work with many schools and churches. Whether its repair and restoration of stained glass or a brand new leaded light, we will be happy to help. If you have a query regarding any glass at your school or church then please get in touch.
Advice
We are often asked to value old windows or if we want to buy them. The advice is usually to put them on an auction site. If you have old painted glass and you would like to talk to us about it, then please email a photo to info@designglass.co.uk.
Contract Work
Contract work has been at the heart of our business since we started in 1989 with the first major project that we undertook being Hawkshead Grammar School. Since that time we have worked with many architects and contractors and have always prided ourselves on delivering on time and never over budget.
