Design Glass / About
The Art of Traditional Glass
Since 1989, Design Glass has specialised in the design, restoration and creation of bespoke decorative glass. From intricate leaded lights to extraordinary glass ceiling domes, every project begins and ends in our Yorkshire workshop.
We work across private homes, public buildings, hospitality spaces and heritage landmarks, always guided by craftsmanship, detail and respect for materials.
For four decades, our reputation has been built not only on the quality of our work, but on the care and precision behind it.
Our Heritage in Decorative Glass
Design Glass was founded to preserve the traditional craft of leaded lights and decorative glass.
From early conservation projects to work across historic estates and public buildings, our approach has always balanced craftsmanship with a deep respect for architectural history.
Though our work has grown in scale, our principles remain the same: every design is considered, every panel handmade, every detail refined.
Where Expert Design Meets Craftsmanship
All our work is created in our Yorkshire workshop, a bright space filled with traditional tools and carefully selected glass. Here, our craftsmen cut, lead, paint and assemble each piece by hand using techniques passed down through generations.
The workshop also houses our showroom, featuring stained glass, refurbished steel windows, and historic pieces like William Morris’s St Michael window. Clients can see and touch materials, colours, and craftsmanship behind each bespoke commission.
We regularly host meetings, CPD events, and industry gatherings, and welcome visitors by appointment.
“At Design Glass, we are proud to preserve and champion traditional craftsmanship while delivering exceptional quality and attention to detail. As the country’s largest leaded light manufacturers, we are honoured to work on prestigious projects across the UK, from heritage restorations to bespoke commissions.”

Where Tradition Meets Innovation
Glass has shaped architecture for centuries. Our role is to honour that legacy while continuing to evolve it.
From delicate restorations to contemporary installations, we respect the material, the building and the craft. Each leaded light panel is carefully hand-assembled for authenticity, longevity and beauty.
We embrace innovation to enhance performance, safety or durability, always without compromising design integrity. Whether restoring historic windows or creating new architectural features, our commitment remains: craftsmanship without compromise.
As proud members of the Glass and Glazing Federation, we uphold the highest standards of workmanship and professionalism.
“Design Glass Ltd took our bespoke bullseye glass design and created a spectacular piece of glass art, it’s exactly what we hoped for. Expertly fitted. Highly recommended.”
